So a team costing peanuts generally played defensively against a team that cost 200 million?

Funny that, the stupid jock cunt.

Ex

perhaps the funniest thing is you could easily make the argument that Ferguson himself played what we call the West Ham way!

Fair point, he did.

Goat Boy - right, so as one of the most succesful and expereinced managers that Britain has ever produced, he shouldn't need someone to explain it to him then?

Unless of course, he's making some shitty, throw away comment, which if he stopped to think about it, is disrespectful to two managers who have gone before him.

I thought Redknapp played that way personally

Lily Hammer 11.15 has this nailed for me.

It was never just about the football on the pitch, it was the whole experience back in the 70s / 80s.

The game was different, but the times were different too, and the fans. The whole environment around the game was more enjoyable.

There used to be no better experience than turning up for an evening game at Upton Park, and standing in the South Bank / North Bank having a laugh and enjoying all the banter.

And if we happened to win that was an added bonus.

Re: Ferguson rouses himself from his piss stained whiskey stupor to have a pop at us
I'm saying it did exist, and granted, as a philosophy, it still does. But we haven't actually seen it in practise for a long, long time, round a bout since money ruined football.

Re: Ferguson rouses himself from his piss stained whiskey stupor to have a pop at us
Who has narrowed it down to 25 years though?

Leeds United played cynical, but highly effective match winning football, that made the most feared team to play in the country for a while.

Just because they've not done it in the last few decades, doesn't mean that it never happened, and it's hard to explain what it consisted of.

Why do whole periods of club's proud histories have to be written off, like it never happened, just because it's not been evident in the last 20 years?

Ferguson would be rightly proud of what he achieved at Aberdeen - maybe that should be written off completely as well though, as it was before 1986?

just because we haven't been seeing it doesn't mean it doesn't exist though

Re: Ferguson rouses himself from his piss stained whiskey stupor to have a pop at us
He's right though I guess, we haven't seen much of the West Ham way this past 25 years, not since Sky TV changed the entire shape of football in this country and went pouring obscene amounts of money into a select few clubs at the top....

Perhaps if the money Ferguson & his ilk had access to had been more evenly distributed around the other clubs in the country, the philosophy of the 'West Ham way' may have continued a little longer.

Spot on again Exeter.

BetterthanKaka 10:15 Wed Oct 22

Yep, as we expected, the 'media' whores are gonna home in on us and cause ructions to try and shake us out of our stride... must protect your Mancs and Chelseas etc at all costs...

What with us and Southampton and Swansea etc, there must be a few squeaky bums in Champs League land at the moment.

"and asking what it is"

As per below, if he really wants to know what it is, then he can get hold of the Ron Greenwood autobiography 'Yours Sincerely'.

I'm sure he'll have plenty of time to get it from Amazon and read it before he dies.

Alternatively he could continue updating his own insincere and disrespectful one of his own.

From the man who is now saying he had nothing to do with appointing Moyes as his successor, it was down to the owners apparently, and the head of those owners is now conveniently dead, this is no real shock, he’s also making Roy Keanes comments look spot on.

Just wants to flog his book IMO, did have respect for the bloke with what he achieved but when you read shit like this and his comments about Moyes It goes out the window. He’s a Cunt

Re: Ferguson rouses himself from his piss stained whiskey stupor to have a pop at us
He isn't questioning the Lyall Way. He knows that exists, and as he said, Lyall was a rock for him. He's questioning the West Ham Way, and asking what it is.

There are two West Ham Ways for me....

The one where we will try try to play the beautiful game, even if it doesn't work every time. We'll die trying.

The other is found in the support; the traditonal support, which is to keep your feet on the ground, and keep your sense of humour, even when you're wading through shit and taking flakk. Never show signs of dispondency. The blitz spirit. And to appreciate and show appreciation of good play from the opposition

If Ferguson doesn't undratnd these things, I won't lose any sleepover it.

silly old drunk is just defending his mate. considering his team dominated for so long we caused them a few headaches which i'm sure still piss him off.

i also remember him praising Redknapps team after 5-3 game at upton park.
